Kristofor Giordano is an artist working across objects, video, drawing, and performance. His practice, rooted in research and fieldwork, investigates the scientific, theological, and material underpinnings of Modernity—especially Capitalism’s erotic grip on perception and the commodification of nature that props up so-called Western Civilization. Reframing personal, cultural, and scientific archives through impersonation, feedback, inversion, encryption, and translation, Giordano analyzes the libidinal forces and lived conditions fueling technological and spiritual transcendence, while tracing how dominant narratives rework time and space to sustain themselves.
Kristofor received his MFA from CalArts in 2022 and is currently based in Los Angeles. He works in This past Spring 2024, he was a resident on The Arctic Circle Art and Science Expedition. His current research examines themes of masculinity and dispossession through Romanticism, psychoanalysis, horror, and science fiction. Using the figure of the Monster in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Giordano seeks to trace socio-environmental collapse to the production of the non-human Other.
